About Me

We are a community garden in Pilsen's vibrant neighborhood at 1835-1837 S. Carpenter; est 1998. Our garden is made up of native Illinois plants and has local pre-hispanic themed Mexican art work. Our garden name is based on the Monarch Butterfly as it travels in it's yearly migration between Mexico, the U.S. and Canada just like many of our Pilsen residents. Our beautiful art work has been wonderfully done by ProsArts in collaboration with the children's programs at Dvorak Park. We are a NeighborSpace/ OpenLands community garden, and we owe much thanks to them and many others; such as ProsArts, the many neighbors who stop by to help, Chicago Cares, and many others.

Evening in the garden, Monday, July 16th 2012

Walked by the garden this evening and all is quiet in the garden. Someone left the garden a nice gift!
