Snowball fight in the garden today!
About Me
- JardinMariposas
- We are a community garden in Pilsen's vibrant neighborhood at 1835-1837 S. Carpenter; est 1998. Our garden is made up of native Illinois plants and has local pre-hispanic themed Mexican art work. Our garden name is based on the Monarch Butterfly as it travels in it's yearly migration between Mexico, the U.S. and Canada just like many of our Pilsen residents. Our beautiful art work has been wonderfully done by ProsArts in collaboration with the children's programs at Dvorak Park. We are a NeighborSpace/ OpenLands community garden, and we owe much thanks to them and many others; such as ProsArts, the many neighbors who stop by to help, Chicago Cares, and many others.

Finally Snow!
We trekked out to the garden Saturday for some snow clean up. We finally have snow! We had a great season last summer with lots of young teenagers hanging out in the garden for the first time. Very nice as they tend to take ownership when they are there. I look forward to another great season like last year.
Though we are still far away from summer we still have some great things happening. Look for our Buddha sculpture to be delivered sometime this week. Ten Thousand Ripples is part of a city wide peace project. Read more here and look for our Buddha head soon! http://articles.redeyechicago.com/2013-01-04/news/36197591_1_buddha-sculptures-neighborhood-pride
Thank you Elvia for arranging!
